Beach-Themed Doll Meet-Up June 2016

A tiny group of doll fanatics--only 3 of the regulars and no guests--met on Saturday at the Brownell Library in Essex Junction. Maybe the rain and the cold kept people away. Despite that, we had a riotous time...so much so that I wonder why no one ever comes in to shush us. I took so many photos that I had to create photo collages to show off as many as I could. Simply click on any photo to enlarge it, then click on the "x" in the black border to return.

ModernWizard brought most of the beach-themed paraphernalia: a small sand box with miniature seashells, a little castle, a pail and shovel, a beach rake, a starfish, a beach umbrella, and an Adirondack chair. I also had a couple of Adirondack chairs, but my props ran more towards a picnic theme. Enjoying the sand in the photos below are ModernWizard's Elfdolls Dodo (brown hair), Winky (hot pink hair) and Olivia (asleep). The baby dragon and the Realpuki in the bottom right photo are mine.
I have separated Lyrajean's dolls into two groups: First there are the cats--a male and a female Spiritdoll Bastet; along with the tinies--Custom House Petite Ai Uriel and Sariel, and Volks Yo-SD Kira. The dolls are accompanied by smaller dolls: tiny (Calico Critters?) cats and Lalaloopsies. The group also includes a vintage Barbie whose hair Lyrajean re-rooted.
The second group consists of her Star Wars cos-play dolls: U-noa Zest as Kylo Ren and Bimong Meronica as Rey. You'll see my Souldoll Vito Jin there as well because I was curious to see how close in size Zest is to the Vito line. You'll notice that Zest has two faceplates. Both were painted by Tasha Neko (Illness Illusion).

Most of the dolls I brought are new. The only two "old" faces are my AileenDoll blue dragon Lapis ver. 2 and my Dollmore Suntan Zinna. The new dolls include Dollmore Zaoll Luv, Souldoll Vito Jin, WithDoll Dark Elf Angela, WithDoll basic Emma, FairyLand Realpuki Papilio and AileenDoll Pico Baby Ashes. Jin gets a photo all to himself to show off his fourth and final face-up. After three incredibly bad attempts, I finally got him looking the way I wanted, so proud mama wants to show him off.
For purposes of photo collage I have divided my dolls into two groups: The tinies--Lapis, Ashes and Papilio; and the bigger dolls--Luv, Jin, Zinna, Angela and Emma. See if you can spot ModernWizard's Elfdoll Winky winking along with Papilio in the photo below. As usual, my dragons seem to be fixated on whatever they can put in their mouths, be it cake, fruit, brie or just a pacifier.

The big kids played out a bit of drama. All Zinna, Angela and Emma wanted was a companionable lunch on the park bench. All Luv and Jin wanted were a few stolen moments to enjoy each other's company. Who knew the two groups would clash?
After sharing a few muttered phrases such as, "Ew, gross!" the girls took matters into their own hands. Literally. First Zinna got up and poked Jin. "Tone it down, Mister. This place is rated safe for families." Then Angela took her place. "Don't you care that there are impressionable children watching?" Emma came up behind, appalled but apparently ready to lend her silent support. Papilio proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. Not that I overheard what the little guy said, but the wink suggests it was something along the lines of, "Get a room!"
The Vermont Doll Lovers are not meeting in July, but we'll be back in August. Happy Fourth, everyone!

  1. So many gorgeous dollies!! Love the Star Wars cosplaying group!

But I loved your girls, and the final photo of Emma being "OMG" and Angela and Zinna so not impressed. Loved it!! And the other photos, Emma looked so cute, hahaha. You really should do more photostories!

Hope you had a great time!!

    1. Thanks, we did have a great time! The story developed as we posed the dolls for photos. ModernWizard has a fiendish imagination, so her input really moved the story along. I'm thinking of filling out the story with more dialog and posting it to DoA.
